    How this calculator works

    Billable hours per month multiply your weekly billable hours by 4.33 weeks and your crew size. Overhead per hour spreads monthly overhead across those hours, and your break-even rate is hourly labor cost plus overhead per hour — bill below it and every hour loses money.

    The recommended rate divides break-even by (1 minus your target margin), which is a true margin calculation rather than a simple markup — a 30% target margin on a $100 break-even gives $143, not $130. The sample job lines apply both rates to your typical job hours so you can sanity-check against what you quote today.
